Measure each opening

Add a room, select the treatment you are considering, and enter the width and height in inches. Choose a fraction for a clear request summary. Final product specifications are verified by The Shutter Guy before an order is placed.

Before you measure

Choose your mounting style

Use a steel tape measure and record every opening to the nearest 1/8 inch. Measure each window separately — even when they look alike.

Inside mount
  • 1Measure the width inside the frame at the top, middle, and bottom. Record the narrowest measurement.
  • 2Measure the length inside the frame at the left, center, and right. Record the longest measurement.
  • 3Check the window frame depth before choosing an inside mount treatment.
Outside mount
  • 1Measure the full width you want the treatment to cover, including overlap beyond the opening.
  • 2Measure from the planned top of the treatment to where you want it to end below the opening.
  • 3Confirm the surface around the window is clear for mounting brackets and hardware.
